Guidelines on Off site ATMs


Conditions for Off-site ATMs

·   The business transacted at the ATM shall be recorded in the books of the respective branch/ base branch / Centralised Data Centre.
·       No person other than the security guard should be posted at the ATM.
·    Adequate standby arrangements for meeting the cash requirements should be made.
·     The bank should ensure that only properly sorted and examined notes are put into circulation through the ATM.
·       Third party advertisement on the ATM screens is not permitted. However, Banks may use it for displaying their own products.

Facilities which can be provided through ATMs

·    Deposits/Withdrawals;
·       Personal Identification Number (PIN) changes
·       Requisition for cheque books
·       Statement of accounts
·       Balance enquiry
·     Inter account transfer within the bank between accounts of same customer or different customers of the bank.
·       Inter Bank Funds Transfer.
·       Mail facility for sending written communication to the bank
·       Utility payments like Electricity bill, Telephone bill etc.;
·       Issue of railway tickets
·       Product Information

RBI has advised that banks are now free to offer all their products and services through the ATM channel provided the technology permits the same and adequate checks are put in place to prevent frauds.
